On two machines, I tried to enable onscreen keyboard using Accessibility option. The option looks enabled, but there is no onscreen keyboard visible. Is it some bug ? Using 18.04 fully updated.
GNOME has changed a few things. When you activate the on-screen keyboard, you won’t see it on the screen always. But if you type something in the Activities area for searching applications, it will come up. Unfortunately, you cannot use it for typing on gedit or other applications.
That is, no way to use it when your laptop keyboard fails ?
If you have a touch screen then this keyboard appears more often but I am not sure.
I tried it on a laptop whose keyboard is faulty. Onscreen keyboards have helped me out in such cases. Not there though.
