4G-stick: avahi-daemon withdrawing and freshly registering address

Hi all,

I´ve just encountered some curious behaviour of my web-stick “Huawei E 3372 LTE”.

Normally, the connection - once established - is very reliable and I´ve never run into any problems so far.

Well, what just happened was this:

The already existing connection to a 4G network seems to have shut down - all by itself - as suddenly the blue LED was blinking (an established connection is indicated by a permanent blue light).

Hmm, so I waited for a little while, perhaps 20 secs. or so, and the connection was re-established - all by itself again.

Getting curious I looked at the logs with the help of lnav and found those entries:

I´m afraid I´m not clever enough to make sense of these logs. No idea why “address record” was withdrawn (more than once) and then freshly registered… :astonished:

I´m pretty sure I didn´t trigger anything off manually. Could it be that the stick lost connection because of any potential problems with the cellular tower (just guessing)?

Perhaps one of you folks can make more sense of it?

Thanks a lot in advance and many greetings.

I dont fully understand , but I can sense that your avahi-daemon is setting up new dns bindings (Verbindung) , but I dont know what Kabelgebundene is? (is it some sort of cable?)
It may be that your ISP had a dns server faulty and was moving to a secondary server
DNS is very complicated.

Hi again Neville,

how nice of you to reply. Thanks a lot.

I´m really sorry; I should´ve been more clear about that. :pensive:

“Kabelgebundene Verbindung” (i.e. “wired connection”) is just the connection name of the device “enx001e101f0000”.
The huawei web-stick basically acts as a router and thus the connection is regarded as wired LAN.

That surely would be a good explanation. :+1:
As I didn´t do anything myself to trigger off any action that would make good sense.

I guess I´d have to leave it at that, and thanks to your kind help I may a bit more relieved now.
I know it´s a bit of a shortcoming of mine but I always like to get to the bottom of things - if at all possible.

Thanks again for your help, Neville.
Many greetings from Rosika :slightly_smiling_face:

Well so much for my German vocabulary
Thanks for putting me straight
Neville

Dear Neville,

You´re very welcome.
Well, as I said, it was my mistake in the first place. Alas it didn´t occur to me to add an English translation for the sake of clarity.

I´ll try to be more attentive in future.

Thanks again so much for your help and many greetings
