Thank you! The truth is that I can’t understand why our American Representatives and Senators haven’t appeared to understand that the best solutions are always based on what has traditionally worked in our past. My Mother took responsibility for my safety by teaching me that I shouldn’t implicitly trust strangers because I had no way of knowing their intentions, and that there are bad people in the world. When my children were young, my Wife and I taught them about ‘Stranger Danger’ for the same reason. Today I harp on Internet safety, and that no one should blindly or implicitly trust anyone we interact with on the Internet because everyone there is a stranger until we can verify that they’re who they purport to be.
I’m not saying that we shouldn’t interact with anyone on the Internet. I’m simply saying that we should take care about how much and what information we share publicly over the Internet and adopt an attitude of skepticism. For example, rather than identifying my children by name, I say my son or my daughter if I’m relating something they said or did, and I avoid identifying where I or anyone I’m speaking about live beyond the city I live in or even my exact age.
As far as I’m concerned, this attitude is something all parents should be teaching their children as well as adopting for themselves.
