Some sites or browsers? have a different layout for mobiles. Not sure what the forum does?

IMHO it’s clearly a CSS issue.

Edit: Why change the header between scrolling up and down. Absolutely useless.

Does it only happen on this site or also on others ?

Which browser are you using ?

On chrome you have the option of changing screen size also going between desktop layout or not, I imagine Firefox etc has something similar

Maybe a discourse flaw.
May have to omit or shorten the text … just the coffee cup symbol would suffice

Yes, your’e right. It seems to be a feature, I checked other forum. The issue is caused by pushing the additional donate link on the righthand side.

Well, in this brave new world, millions of people are going to be asked to replace their phones, rather than have one programmer fix the feature.

I strictly refuse to drop and replace my phone for such reasons. But somethimes it’s hard to endure…

Bit like windows 11 !

More like Nvidia. Dont ever fix any software, replace the hardware.

Yes, Androids phone will stop getting updates after a couple years. The only option is to get a new phone.

Therefore, I doubt that my future phone will run Android OS.

There are very few choices. Apple is simply too expensive and has the same issue.
It is not only the OS … phone systems change too … 3G, 4G., 5G
We recently were given a free android phone by our phone company … to replace one which may not have been able to make emergency calls.

Apple would no longer be in business if their iPhones were significantly more expensive than other vendors “flagship” models like Galaxy S+ and Ultra series, and Google Pixel series…

It’s a fallacy that Apple is always more expensive than rival tech products… And they just build better engineered hardware than e.g. Samsung… I have a Gen3 iPad that’s still kinda usable (except stuck on iOS 9) - that’s VASTLY better than any Android Tablet I’ve used (mostly Samsung)…

One thing Apple do better than ANY other vendor - is provide YEARS of support and updates…

Also : I’d love a 3rd alternative - but - the ecosystem is either Android or iPhone - and some of us need regular vendor supported handsets to do our job - like - and especially MFA applications for logins to work stuff and customer sites… also - Banking apps…

Try getting PingID or Symantec VIP MFA apps working in some android emulator? Or some Android subsystem running on a Linux “Phone OS”…

I’m perfectly happy with my Galaxy S23+ - got it 2nd hand last year, for about 1/3 the price of when new… I’d NEVER EVER EVER contemplate paying more that $1000 for a mobile phone - and I detest landfill… But even so - that Galaxy will be EOL from Samsung a few years before the same year version of iOS from Apple will…

The choice seems to be

  • pay a lot and you may as well get Apple engineering
  • buy a cheap Samsung or whaterver and be prepared to chuck it after a few years

I lean towards the latter. None of them are fixable so the throwaway ethic wins.

I have found the Motorola budget cell phones work great for me. My basic needs are to call and text.

Imagine buying a phone to make calls how inventive. Bet you have a camera to take photos and maps in your car …

Sorry only joking I don’t do much more with my phone I don’t always take it with me it’s so limited

Me too, but I never text either.
No requirement for an expensive phone ?.. but I need a decent tablet.

Shortly you will not be able to send sms as they are pulling the plug on them to be replaced with rcs (Rich Communication Services) they have all sorts of new features and possibilities which if you are like me will not use or need. Plus how many phones need replacing because they don’t work on this. At one stage I kept getting mms (Multimedia Messaging Service) but my phone would not open them.

I understand there is a french ministry department just set up to make tla’s (three letter acronyms) or is it just to keep us confused

TTFN … (ta ta for now) ha ha ha

As I travel a lot, I’m happy that I can check my mails “en route”.

That is it . Those like me who dont travel barely need anything more than a phone.
In the future when fossil fuels cease, travel will not be on the agenda, so phones can revert to being phones.
