Skoda were mocked and laughed upon, but actually now they are good reliable vehicles. They are a bit like Linux, come a heck of a long way over the years, to being very reliable, stable and fast.

We have a 2008 Mitsubishi. Best car we ever owned… have tried Ford, Chrysler, Morris, Nissan, Rover, Toyota(next best)
I forgot, we also had one of the Suzuki 4wd’s with a 2 stroke motor.

My one regret is not buying one of these, but 4 wheel drive is difficult to justify in an area where we dont get snow and I never drive off road, even though some main roads look now like dirt tracks
We used to own a bush block which was 4wd access only. It was our holiday campsite … we decided holidays were expensive so we bought a block out in the wilderness and spent our recreation time there… sort of a retreat from the concrete jungle.
So we had various 4wd’s over the years including the Suzuki. It was one of those oil injected 2 strokes and it revved like a motorbike. It was zippy on the road and a good performer in in mud or on steep dirt tracks. We really needed something a bit larger that would tow, so we traded it for a Nissan/Datsun 4WD.

We had a Honda Civic, wife loved the car, just did not have the get-up-and-go, as the 1995 Mercury Cougar I traded!! We currently drive a 2017 Cadillac XLT, and I drive a 2007 Ford F150 and a 1996 Chevy Silverado 4wd diesel, it is my workhorse!!

Do not drive the Chevy that much but it is useful in the winter when we get snow!!

What is the f150 like?
I seem to remember bench seats and lots of space?
The fuel consumption is likely to be huge.
Our ute is a 4litre toyota hilux … it is pretty heavy on fuel, but it doesnt matter because it never does long trips.

The F150 is a 4dr extended cab with the 5.4 V8 engine!! Does not get great gas mileage but it does run well!!

I would like that. My ute is a 2 door 4.0v6 with a tray and a rack.
Great for carting stuff, but nowhere to put our gear.
We mostly use the Mitsubishi wagon …my wife can handle that better.

A good mate of mine is married to a lovely Russian lady - her name? Lada 
I can remember Skoda were widely regarded as sh!tboxes… Now they’re marketed as “prestige European” vehicles … Time change…
Many of those Eastern Block cars were based on rear engined Fiats…
Having said that - I think some Czech vehicles were more “home grown” than stuff from other Eastern Block countries… and motorcycles too…

Correct now, but originally Czech automobile manufacturer established in 1896

Yes, I should have said VW acquired it in 1990.
There was a Russian lady who worked for me back in the 1970’s and 80’s. She bought an original Czech Skoda … It was sort of OK, but there seemed to always be repairs needed and parts difficulties.

In my village we have the right to bare everything not just arms, and in our pools its obligatoire !

My arms are bare most of the times, except when it gets cold outside. Then I wear a coat and then my arms are covered.
