As if AI itself is not bad enough

I like your case … there is no easy tool so let AI do it

I get a lot of help from AI with debugging someone else’s code, and with hitches in installing apps, especially if i compile it and hand install.
It explains error messages better than anything else I have seen.

The key to its success is that it can parse text and extract the meaning … no other program can do that . So it can process output intended for humans. That is why Msoft are using AI on screen snapshots.

I saw this on the news this morning.

It seems to be used for web pages, or parts thereof … a bit like Java.
I guess any scripting language would be easily attacked, because it is interpreted dynamically when a script is running… a bit like putting malware in a pdf document.

Correct me. I know nothing about php

It was very popular about 10 to 15 years ago and has fallen off a ton since then. But there are some very popular uses for it still. The biggest is WordPress.

The sensational headline says that this affects 70% of the world’s websites. That’s sort of true. Many, many individuals and small companies use WordPress to put some sort of website up. If you judge by website visits instead, 66% (a huge percentage Copilot gave me for the top 10) goes to Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, ChatGPT, Twitter, Reddit, TikTok, WhatsApp, and Bing.

I use wordpress for my sites now and that is based around php, so simple to use as a relational database just point and click, only trouble is all sites look and feel the same just different templates

70 % of the web is on wordpress and pho but you never need to see the code, occasionally when i have a problem i drop to the html source to repair it. But my data entry forms and calendar are all pure php and works well

One thought was after the problems the other day wordpress were really quick with a solution and they pushed it out before i had read about the problem

I’ve yet to see this in the states. Yet!

Further cybre attacks have happened again in supermarket fridges across europe

The cost of this mindless waste of food !

But I am surprised that if its associated with a internet link they have not removed the connection and just put a simple on off switch in place.

We awoke this morning to news that the Church in Sydney where my wife grew up and went to school was vandalised.

These senseless attacks are not confined to internet connected devices.

I don know about the psychology of meaningless vandalism … does anyone care to try and explain it?

Like the riots in paris over the weekend. Distroying the lives of others.

Religion apart for many years the church was considered a safe haven for all but that idea has disappeared along with many values we hold

That is exactly what the news article said.
I this case , someone photographed the offender and posted it on facebook.
He was arrested shortly after… but was immediately bailed !
The law is weak …, they could at least have asked him to clean up the mess.
