Question is… does a system call constitute incorporating non-foss software into otherwise foss apps?
If it does, that would require disclosure of the system source code.
That obviously does not happen with Microsoft Windows.

Not sure if it’s that restrictive - e.g. LibreOffice and ffmpeg are two things that run on MS Windows and MacOS… I expect RMS would like the GPL to do that - but while a bit of a zealot and evangelist, I still think he’s also a pragmatist

Yeah… overlooked that comment. Obviously it’s okay to have FOSS software (including GPL) running in a closed operating system. It’s only not allowed to actually USE GPL’ed code inside your closed source project (be it an OS or an application)
