Sounds like a bad idea, doomed to be (MS-style) poorly implemented. Guaranteed there will be a back door, plus an excuse to claim that the non-current install could not be repaired - and then forcing their latest mess. Zero trust when it comes to MS. And, zero-interest in exposing my Linux install to that level of ‘cloud’ control.

That is an admission of failure.
We see it a lot … eg We need secure boot because our software can not be made secure.
