You might find some help in the MX documentation.

Tried using claude to find the cause of the issue, it stated to place the same files in /etc/xdg/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/

But it didnā€™t work tooā€¦
Perhaps the problem is in Cubic itselfā€¦?

Have you checked if the manual way is enough for your needs? Hereā€™s some info: LiveCDCustomization - Community Help Wiki

Edit: found also this gui: ISO Master - graphical CD image editor - LinuxLinks

Have decided to switch to MX Snapshot creatorā€¦
Hope it goes wellā€¦

Thanks and regards,

So I had issues booting with the mx linux live usbā€¦
I had put a post but quickly found out that this was a nvidia card issue.
So i did nomodeset parameter as instructed by vlaude and gpt and finally im in the live system. Although the resolution is 1024 x 768 on my 1920 x 1080 monitor and its not even changeable. Should i proceed with the installation?

Btw im planning to dual boot it with pop

If you want you finish you project , you really need to proceed.
Is your computer very new? If so you may have more success with MXahs edition. It is a special release for new hardware, but otherwise identical to normal MX.

I believe there is also a live usb app in Linux Mintā€¦ I think it may be cubic, so that does not help.

There is also Refracta Snapshotā€¦ it is supposed to make an iso of a live running system

Yeahhā€¦

Not much, its from 2019 , intel i5 8th gen, gt730
The gt730 does the problem. Anyway, will setup drivers after installation.

Ohhā€¦

Will check it out.

Also, I need to assign 3 partitions to mx right?
One with ā€˜/ā€™ thats the root
Then one efi partition with ā€˜/boot/efiā€™
And the swap.

So I can keep the same efi and swap partitions which pop uses right?

And yeahh the final round ( the intercollege competiton), is in jan so till then hopefully pop.os 24.04 will release and ill do a complete and clean install of itā€¦

Right and right.
Only one efi partition, and the swap partition can be shared with PopOS,

That nomodeset parameter tells the kernel not to attempt to setup the video, but to let X11 do it. X11 is deciding that your card and screen can only support 1024 x 768. Dont bother about why, just use it.

Sure sir!
Thank you very much!
Proceeding with the installationā€¦

Installation successful.
After installation I used the nvidia drivers installation tool from ā€˜MX toolsā€™ and it automatically installed the 470-tesla driver and now the resolution is 1080p full hd.

Also it is still using the nomodeset parameter while booting in defaultā€¦

So should i keep it as it is or should i remove it?

Just leave it for now concentrate on getting your project completed.
You can go back to these side issues later.

Sure thank you!

The main reason I asked this qs was that when i will make the snapshot, mx snapshot tool gives the option of selecting the default boot parameters for our distroā€¦
And the nomodeset parameter is included in itā€¦

Oh, I get it.
It is a bit of a guessā€¦ you are going to make a usb with that snapshot, then take it to another computer, and attempt to boot it. I would go with the safest option, or maybe make 2 snapshots.
Also, have you thought about providing for uefi or legacy boot.?

Okay. Sure. thanksā€¦

For both ?? The installer will be default mx linux installer only, do itll support both type of partitioning and boot optionsā€¦
Btw can i edit the MX installer??

Never tried
I suppose it is a script, so maybe you can.
Why do you need to?
If you just want to change a kernel parameter like nomodeset, you can edit the grub commands in the grub menu. Edits in there are temporaryā€¦ eg you could temporarily remove nomodeset to test booting without it.

No i wanted to edit the name of the installer itself. And also the contents like install mx linux to install vajra linux and the slideshow kinda thing at the endā€¦

I get it. You want an install as well as a live iso.
Find the install script. It should be editable, it is only a program afaik.
That is the one that runs from the live linux.
If you want a separate install usb (non-live) , it is another matter. That sort of install script would have to be in the boot part of the iso, not inside the squashfs.

I think u r a bit confused about what I Have decided to make, lemme just clear itā€¦

I want to make a live iso of my distro, Vajra Linux.
It should be a full fletched live iso which allows user to test the distro then install using graphical installer.

Then I will install it on actual hardware ( probably a bit old laptop so that I can show everyone how well it works on old laptops against windows ). This will be the laptop which I will present.
