With global warming and reduced ice in the poles are the deserts going to survive.
I know everyone is talking about change and there are lots of conferences about it where everyone flies in instead of video but little action

I would not like to try and predict. Australia seems to be getting wetter ( more rainfall). That would help our dry continent.
There is a theory from the soil scientists that sandy deserts like the sahara were either caused or made to spread , by poorly managed agriculture.
I have witnessed the spreading effect of sand moved by wind… I have a picture somewhere of fence posts being buried by sand.
The story goes that the yellow sand in the canaries came from north africa carried by the wind to form the sand dunes at maspalomas in grand canary but i very much doubt that.
More likely carried by the sea.
I agree but think a lot was carried by boat and then trucks to form some of them
Little known fact - Australia exports sand, and camels - to the Middle East
A bit like taking coals to Newcastle?
My hometown - I like how that applies equally to either Newcastle, i.e. NSW or on Tyne…
No more. The UK has run out of coal, and our Hunter Region is going nuclear.
The next generation will not understand “coals to Newcastle”
How true,
Taking laptops to silicon valley … does not have the same ring
