What school did you go to!!! I have two Dell laptops and one PC I pieced together that are way older than 10yrs that are running W11, just fine!! None have tpm and none are running gpt!! But they where all running W10, at one point and I took a W10 ISO and a W11 ISO, used zip 7 and swaped a couple of files, and bingo I have a fully activated W11!! But that was back when W10 was supported and one had auto activation from W10 to W11!! Microsoft has probably shutdown that loop-hole!!
I am sorry if you feel that way!! This has nothing to do with being personal, am not denying you are very educated man!! But I will push the boundaries. at times, and just see if the silly MS requirements, MS has set for W11, can be pushed aside!! I treat Linux, the same way!!

There are now several of us who think that, I wanted to suggest it, but as I was the one on the receiving end thought it was unfair of me to ask, but modƩrateurs have that option for periods if that is considered correct.

Hi Bill,
To ignore and/or mute a user can be done from your personal profile. It is a bit hard to get to your own profile. This should be udated. I got to my profile by clicking on my name / avatar. Go to the tab āusersā. Scroll down and you will see heading of āIgnoreā and āMuteā.
You can add a user there for either one or both. I just went thru the process and added a user.
I tried now but cant i only see user and save there is atleast not for me add user

Yes, it is not easy to get to your own user profile. I would suggest @abhishek might want to make this option easier.
On your message above click on your name. This will bring up a short profile of yourself.
Click on the name again and this will take you to your profile page. On this page you will find a tab called āPreferencesā'. Click on that tab and you will see more tabs. There will be one called āUsersā. Under Users you will find Ignore / Mute.

i know what you mean and when i click on user i dont have the option to add a user first it says users and under that save but no option to add a user.
Why would we globally mute @Daniel_Phillips ? Sometimes he comes across as bit abrupt and contentious - but I find his contributions to this forum valuableā¦
I think there were maybe some crossed wires between Paul and Daniel - most regular users wouldnāt know how to bypass the TPM 2 requirements from Microsoftā¦ So plonking Mint on their 5+ year old PCs makes more sense.
I donāt run Gentoo (tried step by step on this forum a couple years ago - but gave up in the end - had a partial bare metal install, and a partial VBox install - have since dropped VBox in favour of KVM and I ended up wiping the laptop I was using for Gentoo) and Iām not about to try LFSā¦ But I like reading about them on hereā¦ And have a lot of Nostalgia for Slackware as it was my intro to Linux way back in late 1995ā¦

Yep that works first time I have found that box, there is so much on the site and some details are well hidden. You can ignore for different times, day, week month ā¦
A good reason to have multiple old pcs, and multiple hdds in them. I have Fedora with my Windows 11 gaming rig. Still need Windows sometimes. I can switch from Anduinos to Zorin, to Ubuntu 26.04 to Fedora 44, even Debian 13 on a 20 year old Compaq laptop. Distro hopping/hoarding is more fun than Battlefield. I had troubles on modern pc with Arch freaking out with secure boot, and lost all kinds of distro installs. Reinstalled Fedora, use its GRUB to pick it or Windows now.
Is that the one with the security blanket from Peanuts? lol. I think the creator of Linux can have some passes, huh.
Many contributors here go distro hopping as an instructive and rewarding hobby. Other people enjoy distro making and maintaining.
We also discuss the need for some mainstream distros that will be suitable and safe FOSS replacements for Windows, Chrombook & Mac. Ubuntu is making advances in the public administration and commercial fields (where there is always an IT service to call upon), but I try to argue that we donāt yet have a distro that would be really suitable for ordinary home users, and that the current monopoly wonāt be properly broken until we have one.
I donāt think thereās conflict here and wouldnāt want the subjects to be treated as separate topics. There is some risk, though, that not all experienced distro-hoppers and developers may have a feel for how difficult and expensive it will be to meet all the requirements for a general-purpose mainstream distro.
I think Mint and MX are home-user distros.
What do you think they lack?
