Hi Rosika,
Maybe it doesnt. Maybe I tend to only do CLI queries. What I see may be a biased sample.
I do tend to get the type of answer I want from Baeldung.
Thanks for the info.
Regards
Neville
UPDATE
I had a look at the Baeldung site https://www.baeldung.com/
They have a major focus on Java, but there is a Linux section , and it is mostly CLI stuff as far as I can judge.
They also have sections called Scala, CS, and Kotlin.
So they are not into everything, there is a focus on specific areas.
Haven´t seen this page before. Seems interesting indeed.
There´s a dedicated “Artificial Intelligence” section, like you pointed out.
I´ll have a closer look at it.
It used to be an installable plugin when this NAS was still called “FreeNAS” - but they removed it from the list sometime before it got renamed to TrueNAS…
Just weighing in from here in Hurricane Country, I do prepare for power outages. The outlets I use for my home network run on GFCI/AFCI breakers, I have surge protectors with the appropriate ratings, and I maintain good backups.
I really need/want a good UPS system but that’s a budget issue. Any suggestions are appreciated as hurricane season is here.
I live in a lightening hotspot.
A major consideration is lightening striking the ground , then zapping digital devices through the earth connection.
We make sure that our surge protectors protect the earth line, as well as the active and neutral. You usually have to ring the manfacturer and ask.
Hurricanes may be more a matter of outages on the active line.
We do not use a UPS. My understanding is that they do 2 things
improve protection against brownouts and rapid on/off situations
give you a short period in which to shutdown gracefully
If you want any more than that, you need a generator, but be careful, only some types of generator make clean power.
I have a generator but that’s for after the fact and while it’s a high quality brand with a good current filter I’d be reluctant to run anything sensitive on it unless I had to. Frankly that’s not really what it’s for.
For me a UPS would be to ensure that I got a clean shutdown on the home network rather than to run the thing any length of time.
That part is so important and often forgotten, I always advise users to change the plug board they are using to one with surge protection. Many don’t follow why even when I explain. Similar for TV and hi-fi systems.
No idea just how many I have bought and replaced at clients homes, only to return later and discover they daisy chain them to other plug boards. Last mont came across a guy with 2 fan heaters plugged into 2 seperate plug boards that were fed off a surge protection board… he was pulling more than the circuit should allow and had burned 2 sockets completely !
I trashed it and hosed the FreeBSD jail and got back 800 GB of storage on my NAS!
Wow! I don’t think I’ll bother attempting this again…
800 GB? That should keep my 4x4TB raidz1-0 (gives me about ~11 TB usable) going for another couple of years, unless a disk fails… The longer I wait - the cheaper 8 TB or 16 TB drives (spinning) come down in price…
I’d love a UPS - but not sure I can justify the cost. The PITA I found, when I had a UPS - was the annoying beeps and alarms - quite disruptive inside a house…
Living in Hurricane Country, my issue is a bit different. Power outages tend to be predictable–hurricanes are a “nice” natural disaster in that you get some warning–so I’ll prepare ahead of time by shutting things down before the likely outage and then waterproofing my home server and computers. This involves contractor grade plastic trash bags and duct tape; sometimes low-tech is best.
Most of europe is suffering very high temperatures, my own village is hovering around 30 day and night, our 2 pools are both at 30 just with sun heating. Even the sea is hot and not refreshing. Forcast is for next 10 days to get hotter… very unusual for this time of year.
Spain is event hotter ,
I know solar panels are only effective up to a certain température and as we saw a few weeks back there was a power outage in a big part of spain that touched france and portugal.
These extreams of température due to global warming or not means we are going to get more issues with power…
Already this week had 3 over heated boxes to fix !
That is a regular event in Australian Summer.
I cant run computer without turning on air conditioning… not even overnight.
I should have got a water cooler when my PC was built… I chose against it because of the noise.
What is needed is a tiny stream of cool air to direct into the air intake. What you do with a fanless machine I am not sure?
