I experimented with docks and Plank and decided that the built-in menu on most distros is simpler and easier. The few icons I use regularly can be shuffled to the desktop or panel. KISS, remember?

I had trouble finding terminal .
There is no icon. Use the menu
-or-
“Pressing Ctrl+Alt+T will instantly launch a Terminal window at any moment.”

No - I found the icon (two of them - one just “Terminal” the other one “XFCE Terminal”) and BOTH of them errored out “Could not launch…” blah blah…
Rebooted and it was okay again… So I installed it… Seems okay… A bit clunky, e.g. the prompt to unlock the encrypted “/” is less than obvious - on Ubuntu and/or Fedora it’s a BIG GUI “box” thing with a prompt… seems a bit unpolished compared to Ubuntu or Fedora… but it’s okay…
I barely use that machine… next thing will be see if I can get Steam and Teams installed…
