Goodwy’s projects look cool (also seem actively maintained). Never heard of them, thanks!
What’s the difference between Right Messages and AlRight Messages, though?
Are the ones with AlRight paid, or what?
Not really, I still get SMS about end of parking for example, or from the bank…
SMS and MMS work an old cellphones, even without any internet capability. Not using any app. Even today exist pones like that:

An app for Android allows the smartphone (acutally a computer!) to use such a function.
And fortunately there are different implementations ![]()
Like it or not, SMS is still there, and has its place in communication. It’s not an instant-message with instant delivery report, and it’s not for chatting.
To start parking, I send an SMS to a publicly known number with my cars plate number.
I receive an answer (SMS of courseI, the parking started, when it will finish if I don’t stop it sooner, and how much is it /hours. I send another SMS to the same number to stop, the text is -guess what?
- “stop”, and in the answer I get how much I will pay for that parking…
That doesn’t work with Whatsapp.
Yes, there’s an app for parking, but I refuse to install an app for this…
No idea ![]()
The Right Dialer works awsome, it has some features available only in paid version:
like changeing color of a little something…
I liked FossifySMS better, so I use it now. The Right Dialer is somewhat more eyecandy to me, so I preferred it over Fossify phone.
I installed Fossify Gallery for viewing pictures, it fits my needs.
My phone now says no sms converted to rcs perhaps different regions countries
I’ll try them, thanks!
That happens to me sometimes - annoying… I think one case was where my mate was on international roaming or something while he was in SE Asia - he’d never my SMS’s - but they were defaulting to RCS messaging - whatever the F that is…
Anyway I just use the default messaging app that comes with Android…
Sometimes my missus forgets and sends stuff to me on Apple Messages or whatever it’s called - then asks why I didn’t respond! Gets stroppy with me when I turn up at home after a trip to the shops and didn’t get what she Apple Messaged me to get while I was out ![]()
My mum’s (her excuse - she’s 88 - and I’ll accept that) even worse - she’s never sure whether she’s sending an email or an SMS - but she uses Android… She’s also part of a “group” - they call themselves “the college” - it’s not quite, but damn close, to being a “cult” - anyway - they all use Whatsapp…
Our association use it each morning to send a list of events for the day, you choose to subscribe on joining the association but you can also choose to join the group without being a member, yes i set up an unsubscribe option on our site.
But then it grew, no one said the year after we restart the group or do a cleanup.
Also committees started being formed for different events, being on the elected list of our association, they automatically include me in sub lists and once in season the number of messages gets silly. Bleep bleep all day. But what gets me annoyed is there is no night time silence button, if I switch my phone off the following morning it never stops … worse now than when I worked.
Any reliable source for this?
The Samsung Messages application will be discontinued in July 2026. Upgrade to Google Messages as your default messaging app today to maintain a consistent messaging experience on Android.
Already happened in my part of France.
Very aggravating. Tho not lately, this has happen to me a few times. I go back and looking for a reply and the phone said ‘Not sent- send with sms’ or something like that. I press the resend and the message is then sent.
I asked my son-in-law about it and he believes I had rcs and the person I was sending the message to only had sms. Not sure, but it been a long time since this happened to me.
That could be correct I did go through a time with mms and them not working as my phone could not open them. Still can’t but at least I get them. Just gives me a link to a website… So I bin them. No one has ever asked if they worked
RCS is an ambiguous acronym
it also refers to Gnu Revision Control System
Who allowed that?
