Myself, I have the space for the length of the RX 6700 or 6800. But I asked CoPilot about the ones for my case and motherboard that are under 9" and none of them would fit your space. Here is what was suggested for under that:

My RX6400 is 17cm.
What happened with your RX560 card? It should work.
Well, the rx560 card didnt work on my system, so I returned it. I have ordered a rx580, so will see if this one will work. If it doesn’t, I may try reimaging my pc with a different linux os.I do not have a spare pc to test the cards with. I may try to set up a vm, and test that way.
All you should need is the 'amdgpu’driver.
You can test if it is loaded with
lsmod | grep amd
and you dont need to install a new linux to test it… use a live .iso on a usb stick.
Ok, thank you. I will try that, and get back to you.
Well, the 580 isnt working either. I am currently using an old ATI radeon with only 512 mb of ram. lsmod | grep amd shows the amdgpu drivers are loading, but they are not working for either the 560 or 580. I have tried switching out cables, also tested power supply. I have a live iso on usb, but using the 560 or 580, I do not get a video display, so I cannot see what is happening. Could it be that the 500 series will not work on my mb? I have looked up the specs on my mb, and it should work just fine. At a loss. Could it be the older monitors I have ? I think i am left with reimaging my machine…
It is a gaming mb with 32 Gb ram and a Ryzen processor… more than enough to support that video card.
How old? Maybe old CRT screens would not work, but any modern led monitor should be OK.
What about monitor connections… are you using displayport or hdmi?
I have one setup that only works on displayport, not hdmi.
Do you have more than one monitor connected? I would defer that and try and get the card working with one screen first.
It is strange? amdgpu driver is present but does not work?
Maybe try some different kernel boot parameters… like nomodeset… you know what that does… it stops the kernel doing the video initialization and leaves it to X11.
Another thought… even if the amdgpu driver is not functioning, the card should work in VGA mode. To test… can you enter the bios when you boot, and can you see the bios menu? That is vga mode. If you cant see that, there is a hardware issue… maybe as @kovacslt suggested, check the power connector to the card.
Excuse me if the question seems stupid:
Do you connect the power to the card, or just insert it into the slot?
Hi, I have an update on my issue, but first, a big thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions on what troubleshooting steps I needed to take. They were all very helpful in guiding me step by step on what to do, so a big Thank You to all who helped me out on this. After going thru all the steps you all provided, I still couldn’t get my RX580 to work. The only thing left to do for me, was to replace the mb. So that is what I did. Bought a brand new MSI MPG B550, and swapped out the MSI B550 with the MPG B550. That was a lot of work transferring all the components from the original mb to the new one. But once I did, I fired up my computer, and success !! RX 580 was immediately recognized, and was working as expected ! So I guess the PCIe 3x16 slot on the B550, was the issue. This was a pain to deal with, but I learned a lot thru this experience, and from everyone who guided me along the way, so again, thank you for your patience with me, and helping me out along the way ! I wouldn’t have expected a PCIe slot to be bad, but I guess anything can happen when dealing with electrical components.
Real bad luck there, and a difficult issue to diagnose.
We do appreciate the thank you note and update.
I hope the RX 580 does everything you need
Regards
