My feelings exactly.
I think in virt-manager it just grabs the maximun ram setting, regardless of whether it is needed.

Hi Shiela,
It would seem that with either Edge or Brave browsers in W11, I have to use
CTRL c (lowercase c) not CTRL C to copy text.
but
to paste it in Linux I need CTRL V
and
From a terminal window in W11 either CTRL c or CTRL C works
A real model of consistency, I dont think.
Cheers

I have never heard of that. Guess I donât usually have caps lock on when I do it, but any CTRL C/V should work. So I just tested in Edge and guess what? With caps lock on, I selected text to copy and pressing CTRL C got the notification âCaps lock offââgo figure. Caps lock is not really off, permanently, cause typing some text in the same window address bar, it is still on. But as you discovered: Edge requires small C, does not work with capital C. Tried it in Brave on W11, same thing. Caps lock is turned off by system when copying.
On a side note, reading through @daniel.m.tripp comments on the subject, have you figured out why it keeps eating all the RAM you give it? Just noting his comment on âTinyâ W11. I assume it is still being too slow to deal with?
Hi Shiela
I think I am looking at the wrong place.
I have been looking at the xfce load monitor in the Void host⌠if I allocate 16Gb, it says 25% of memory (plus a bit).
I think I should be looking inside virt-manager. That should be the actual usage, rather than the space allocated.
I am surprised, though, that it just takes a slab of memory.
So the system is not turning my caps lock off. Fine. How would it know when I wznt to copy?
Yes still too slow, especially 10 mins to boot, and 2 hours to shutdown.
Maybe try Win7 one day.
Cheers

I assume invoking the CTRL C is what normally turns off CAPS lock in W11. Because I just tried copying in an Excel spreadsheet with lock on and same thing: system turns off caps lock temporarily. Same with KDE Connect SMS on W11, using Control V invokes turning off caps lock to do so. Now using right-click copy does not in any browser or app. Typical inconsistency in Windows.
Iâd be interested in seeing what Win7 does in VM. Only issue is, I no longer have my laptop with Vista pre-installed cause I think I overwrote it with Linux when I gave it to my daughter. So not sure how I would get the install ISO since it is no longer available. But I do have one old laptop I havenât even opened in forever, I may check what it has.
Thanks,
Sheila
