Thanks for all the interest. I use a laptop quite a lot and started using the F keys for window control and Super key for launching apps because it was faster than the touch pad and then quite liked it. @daniel.m.tripp made me realise that the F-key functions can be switched, I should have spotted that - age is catching up. It seems my laptop default is to the F codes 59-68 and somehow got switched.
