Maximizing Productivity: Best Ways to Integrate Android Smartphone with Linux Mint Desktop

I’ve done a bunch of stuff with similar paid services…

i.e. sendmail to an address with a mobile phone number and it would SMS the number… This was very useful for alerting…

I use GSConnect on my Fedora system. No problems at all in doing what I need it to do.

There is a way, but the risks outweigh what you get in return. You would have to put your computer in the DMZ on your home network, so, both it, and your Home Network would be completely visible to any cracker who happens to scan your IP address. Unless you have the training to manage an Internet website, I strongly recommend against doing that!

I had to look up DMZ.
You are right I dont want that risk.
I can do without the integration, and I am not sure integration maximises productivity anyway, it seems to be more of a distraction and a source of problems.

It was for me on Windows when I gave their Your Phone feature a try. I don’t think I’ll make that mistake again, and besides, if I need a file from my phone, all I have to do is use my phone’s USB charging cable to connect it to my computer instead of to the charger, then I can view any file on my phone, and copy it/them to my computer for whatever I need to do on/with them.

Further, if connecting my phone to my computer can only work safely when I’m home, why do I want to do anything with my files on my phone anyway? It’s easier to manage them on my computer, and the only scenario I can think of where I could want to work on a file on my phone would be if I have a long commute to work, and I want to get something finished during that time, but that’s a very narrow, limited value situation. Another way a link between my phone and computer could be if I want to be able to send or receive text messages from my computer, and I think both KDE and Gnome have solutions for that, but i haven’t tried them either, mostly because of how distracting the phone link was on Windows.

Easy enough with sshd running in TermUX… (e.g.: scp or rsync over ssh)

I have used this before - but one issue :

You have to run “termux-setup-storage” (sic?) and it creates some folders in its jailed environment… You can get to them with some apps - like the Android file manager - but - it’s not easy… My music player can find them - but they’re in a different tree from my main Music folder in the “/” of my Android…

So - I use ResilioSync - even if the Android app constantly crashes… it’s still useful… Damn! The vendor (of Resilio) keep NAGGING me to update the version running on my MacBooks - it doesn’t add any features I need - OI! Resilio! Stop trying to fix stuff on MacOs and FIX the broken-ness of your app on Android FFS!

That is what I do mostly. I would like to try scrcpy in conjunction with termux.
Alternative is bluetooth.
I dont need automatic syncing
