There´s quite a lot of information about the subject.

Still: I think what it boils down to is the fact that it´s a matter of personal preference.
You certainly know best what´s good for your eyes, i.e. what causes the least strain to them.

For me dark themes work out best.

I think it is more about contrast than brightness or particuler wavelengths.

I think so as well, Neville.

For text white letters on black background works best for me.

In actual fact I was thinking along those lines as well.
But I dismissed the thought because…

dirt, for example dust, between the LCD and the backlight (the “LCD” is made up of several parts).

… I couldn´t image how some tiny spec of dirt could have gotten there… .

Still: you explanation seems conclusive.

To eliminate this stain, the LCD would have to be disassembled.

I think that´s not worth the trouble.
It doesn´t bother me that much, but I wanted to have an explanation for it. Now I have one. Thanks a lot, Jorge.
