Network WiFi driver not available?

Actually the dongle caused problems. So I got creative. I created an Ai Linux doctor by filling it with several books about Linux as well as my specific machine and completely without problems it created a bespoke injection into my kernel. Now wifi as well as Bluetooth are working. Don’t know where it got it, but it found a copy of the data shared by mediatek which they are integrating into the newest kernel. And I only had to copy and paste a handful of bashes. Yeah, I made a snapshot before starting to tinker with it. But it works perfectly now, no test or log gives any errors. And to avoid a common error, present in supported mediatek chipsets I turned off auto suspend for either BT and wifi. Curious if I get problems and when…

I suppose you mean adding a kernel module to the current kernel?

Indeed. Working fine, though I had a little fun every startup. All explanation found though and remedied. Probably tomorrow morning all good at start…

Even created an executable file which will reestablish my changes when a new kernel would be installed by automatic updates.

A little development: just yesterday a kernel/firmware update came available for my Linux Mint and laptop(may be specific I don’t know) and it didn’t work any more after. Also not after my executable fix. Probably some changes in the drivers or such. So I solved that by reverting with Timeshift and then holding the kernel updates, it’s just till this summer when 7.1 will add native support for my wifi chip. Quite an adventure. But my network and bluetooth mouse work perfectly and surfing is much faster. On top the dongle caused problems almost everyday…

At least you had the good sense to keep some snapshots.

I had to buy a new wifi dongle, myself, one dongle I had worked, when old laptop integrated wouldn’t, and my Linksys, and two Belkins neither. This site helped: GitHub - morrownr/USB-WiFi: USB WiFi Adapter Information for Linux · GitHub

I always go for netgear personnaly without problems

I have had success with TP-link.
They make some nice miniature dongles that would suit a laptop.
