This ties in with the ban on social media for under 16
Yes. You need a law ( ie a ban) but you also need motivation.
How do we motivate youth to self regulate?
That is a massive subject which teachers have been trying to solve for years and only few succeed
Portugal has decriminalized drug usage, all of a sudden there were a lot more people looking for help. The Netherlands condones drug usage, same situation.
Legalizing or condoning drug usage is a lot better than criminalizing it.
The Law has to support what is right… whether it be morally right, right for public health, or whatever.
Drug usage is a special case… it is a spiritual problem … drug users are searching for something … it is a problem of the modern secular world … too much freedom … too little guidance
The word criminalize makes the issue emotive. The law only criminalizes if police are used to enforce it. They should use other means to guide people away from drug abuse.
Proper parenting would be a good start.
Some countries also do the same for prostitution and gamboling or have different rules even different states thinking of america now. Right or wrong, as was pointed out before drink and prohibition.
I am not a judge. Just have opinions which may be different to yours right or wrong.
On a personal noté, I go paddleboard on the sea fed lake outside of my home, if I stay in the corner I am OK no issue, but if I paddleboard in the other direction the police maritime want to stop and fine me as it a boat passage. Right or wrong. Not in the same légal issue but still a rule.
There are lots of those ‘social order’ rules…eg) it is a good idea to obey traffic lights, but it could become a moral issue if you ran a light and killed someone.
Then there are ‘nanny state’ rules… trying too hard to protect people
Rules are binary… like our minds. Everything is yes or no.
I stll think it is a bad thing for a Law to say ’ X is morally wrong but it is not illegal’
A Law has to say what is right, and that automatically makes breaches illegal.
How we deal with breaches is the problem. Every sin is not a police matter.
Update:
I mean any Law that we make should be moral.
I do not mean that the Law should attempt to define evey aspect of morality.
Ethics is a broader topic than Law.

Rightly so. Good for improving balance in old age. Plus I give lessons in the summer for free.
