Dan can probably tell us more, but that’s what it sounds like to me.

The only downside is it also resembles what the Apple folks have done for a long time. If you haven’t noticed I’m not much of an Apple fan. I doubt they came up with it though. They probably just made use of something like Avahi.

Hello everyone
Thank you very much for your various interventions.
I could see the problem.
the problem is that the IP address of my physical machine was in DHCP.
I therefore set the address in static and I can now ping the name of my hosts.
