Sheeze - in some ways Oracle’s “VM for x86” was better than VMware, and what happened to Citrix’s “XEN” (the hypervisor used in Oracle VM for x86 and AWS) product?

Now every twonk is moving away from server farms of ESX servers to AWS and Azure…

Trusting the cloud (AWS and Azure - I’ve no experience with Google’s offering) is putting all your eggs in an ephemeral basket…

Also dealt with a few “cloud providers” who were just abstracting VMware… never saw the point…

ProxMox is good - it should be ready for primetime (a long time ago)…

Novell Netware NDS was light years ahead of Microsoft Active Directory… Banyan Vines was light years ahead of Netware NDS… NFS is better than SMB…

Better never equals success…

It depends how you measure success. Popularity is not the only measure.
