Never needed any support just plug and play not found an Epson yet without a driver. Ok it may say 4321 on the box and when you connect it then it uses the 4300 driver but never an issue
I have an Epson ET-2711 and I’m happy with it.
As @callpaul.eu mentioned, I didn’t need any support either, but it uses the ET-2710 driver. However, there are functions in Windows that don’t exist in Linux, for example, de ink levels doesn’t work in Linux.

Me too.
For me Canon works quite well. The IP 7250 worked perfectly with CUPS+Gutenprint, my MG 5320 works OK too, except when printing to disc. I can use th MG perfectly with Turboprint.
As the IP7250 died (printed about 70000 pages) I only have the MG5320 now.
My MG is hacked to have external tanks, so refilling is not a problem.
There’s a local ink supplier here, who gives inks for Canon printers extremely cheap (about 1/300 of original Canon ink), still those inks produce excellent print quality (for a comparison, EZ-print inks cost about 1/100 of original Canon inks, the print quality is nowhere near of the original, and the yellow is known to kill the print head).
My MG has a mileage near 50000 pages, so you can guess how much I saved using those inks
When you buy a printer, I think one of the most important questions is, how much do you plan to use it, and how much does it take to refill (the cost per page).
I’d choose the printer, that works with Linux, and is the most affordable to refill: in the long run that will be the most economical.
I had an IP 5000 Canon. It worked perfevtly with Win, and it could print from Linux but had no fancy functions.
It lasted more yhan 10 years, then choked on some poor quality ink. A print head replacement was too expensive , so I abandoned it.
I still have a Brother inkjet. It is nothing like the photo quality of the canon, but fine for general use. Brother supplies Linux drivers both for printer and scanner.
As far as I can tell the last number on the Epson box is simply the country or region code but the drivers are the same
On ink levels I had the same issue sometimes it reports but most of the time no. There is a download on the Epson site for ink level tests but never happy with it
