Huh? When I did my LFS, I don’t remember there being such a file anywhere. If it contains passwords or keys, I’d suggest contacting the maintainers of LFS.
EDIT: then again, git didn’t exist at the time.

This is what I get when I do a search for “LFS source code”!!!
sorry, can’t help with that. I’m trying to get the LFS first I’m now trying to compile gcc to another computer. It has AMD chip, only 4 cores so it will take appr. 45minutes to get to the point where my i5 machine stopped.. I’m ssh:ing to that computer from my laptop.
a quick update… I’m on 6.18 where’s the gcc rebuild.. maybe I’ll get this to work!
I had some issues with the build when using PopOS. Now booting from Gentoo livecd and all is going well.
I got this same error when compiling gcc-14.2.0. Did you have any luck with this?
I have not continued with the LFS project. I got it compiled (the GCC) and my next stop would be chapter 9. I didn’t get all the packages compiled on chapter 8. I can’t remember which ones because I’m at the office but they weren’t critical at that point so I just continued (2 packages IIRC). It is a boring job to install all packages on chapter 8 so I decided to take a break with the LFS.
I had problems with GCC when I used PopOS but with Gentoo live usb it worked. Maybe you should also try with it? Downloads – Gentoo Linux
It seems like I have some issue with configuration, possibly with compile targets ? I’m not sure. But it’s producing that error anyway. I feel like I’m missing some knowledge about setting targets for GCC. I might swap to something else.
Try Gentoo! You’ll have basic tarball to start with and there’s binary kernel so it’s easier
