well it seems to be an Hyprland issue. I first tried to update Hyprland and keep the OpenRC on older version. The same issue, Hyprland wont work.

Then I reversed the order and all is working. So new OpenRC and older version of Hyprland is ok.

 emerge --info | grep openrc
sys-apps/openrc:           0.55.1::gentoo

 genlop hyprland
 * gui-wm/hyprland

Clever trick
It seems like fiddling with OpenRC is not going to help.
You have the sysv flags with openrc… might as well leave it alone… we dont need to look for trouble.
I once put runit into my Gentoo… just to see if I could do it… it worked but I went back to OpenRC.
Hyprland is new… it is not surprising the issue is there… you cant do much except wait.

Yes, I’ve masked the R2 version of Hyprland now. Hyprland is developing so quickly that it’s “normal” to have hiccups. That’s why I have X11+Cinnamon also
