What programs exist for Linux to scan a PDF file?

Hello Friends

Thanks for the replies

Neville

It will stay in the repo until it stops working.

Agree, but always is wise keep and use the latest … could exists a kind of security issue and it was not neither detected nor reported … and of course not fixed

There are lots of programs like that… unsupported but functional.
Support is only needed to keep up with system changes.

According the case …

Rosika

I agree with Neville.
As long as you can install it from the official repos you may as well use it with confidence.

Understood

ClamAV › Wiki › ubuntuusers.de still lists it and provides a dedicated paragraph for clamtk . That´s a good sign.

Sounds good

I just simulated its installation on my system:
env LANG=en_GB:en apt-get -s install clamtk

Very interesting I’ve confirmed that the -s option only exists in the apt-get command and not in the apt command … I’ve learn something today

Seems O.K. so far.
I´d say: if you´re interested in clamtk just go for it.

Huge thanks Rosika!!!

It depends on what the software does.
Old software is safe if it does not interact with other software or with network.
I have compiled 50 year old Fortran programs, and they are just as good today as when written.
