What you should have known before switching to Linux from Windows?

I suppose the point of this is that you do not want to rub out any windows stuff in the EFI partition?

I agree , install Windows first. Was never sure what might happen if you did a windows update , after the Linux was installed? So I risked it and did one ( on my MBR system) and it was OK… Not sure what would happen with GPT or UEFI?

If Linux and Windows are on two separate drives, then one can install Linux or Windows first, just be sure grub is installed in the drive that Linux is using. It is kind of hard to separate the
grub boot and windows boot, on a one drive dual boot, I suppose one could try and bypass
the install of windows boot and see if os-prober in linux would find the windows partition.
