Drive anywhere in summer and try to explain that to my windscreen ….
Your comment doesn’t make any sense to me. ![]()
Sorry poor humour….. bugs on car windows,
If i have to explain then the joke was on me and not very good
Imagine that! Car Windows! If it hit a BSOD you couldn’t see anything anymore!
Is this real or just another joke?
Just another joke.
People tell me I am funny, but i think they are taking about my character not because it makes them laugh.
I know of Android Auto, and it isn’t funny either! ![]()
Windows 10 reached EOL

Windows XP is celebrating its 24th birthday
Some things never really good away
Maybe they need to close the Windows in the picture…
XP was a usable OS. I still have a licensed copy, but I dont run it.
24 years might sound a lot, but all OS’s should survive like that.
Survival depends more on hardware compatability.
Somewhere I have a perfectly good copy of CP/M , probably on a 5 in disk, but have nothing to run it on.
Noone notices that Unix is 55 years old, and some of the working BSD’s today are very like the original Unix.
But maintained, I assume.
Oh yes, but NetBSD is very close to original BSD of the 1980’s
You can get source code copies of old Unixes from the archives… I looked at 386BSD… I could not work out how they booted it. Some of the early freeBSD’s booted from DOS.
Given that most of Unix is C, it should be possible to run even the very earliest versions with a bit of assembler work. Most of them used a bit of 16 bit assembler.
One would need an emulator to get a machine.
Writing an OS in a high level language was the big breakthru of that period. It gave us portability.
I still use XP on my old 32bit shop computer, still runs just fine, just cannot find a browser, that still supports XP!!!
Not to forget the acceptance of the websites you want to visit. I assume, coming with iexlore you’ll be doomed.
Yes it would be internet explorer but cannot remember the version number.
Shame I threw away my xp disks a few weeks back thinking I would not use them again
Already on some sites my Linux mint 19 32 but is reporting that it’s out of date
I have 2 Mac portables with system 7 on and the will no longer connect to any site as the browser is so old
Technology moves on so fast
I should have an ancient W2K CD somewhere in my attic… ![]()
