I am 56 years old. I work as Professor of surgery in a medical college in mumbai. I like to say that while most of you have grown up with computers around you, me (and those of my generation) AND the computer have grown up together. so… I’ve been into tinkering since …1981. That was when we had ‘dumb terminals’ linked to a mainframe somewhere. The going was slow and the computer was just some toy that you could play with. Then, over the years, I got myself a PC - an intel 386 with 4 MB RAM, and win 3.1 which booted with DOS and gave you a GUI by typing ‘win’ at the command prompt. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I was very young then, but looking back I think that this config - the i386, then 8 MB RAM, 150MB HDD, with a dial-up networking connection at 4-10 KBPS(practically) running windows 95 was the best that I have ever experienced!
