I am a 55 years old programmer .
In my youth I studied “Informatics” (now this is called IT) in college.
I worked in a software company as programmer, later as a project manager for 5 years on IBM S/36 mini computers in RPG II (Report Program Generator) programming language : I had big troubles with deadlines, and in the end I got fired .
The above activities were from 1986 till 1994 :
During that time I knew almost nothing about PC’s, including Windows and programming languages on PC’s (except Pascal and a small notion of UNIX).
Later on, in the first trimester of 1998-1999, I gave IT classes in a high school : I had to study a lot on the lesson packages : Windows 98, Excel, Pascal, Word and all PC related stuff of that “era” .
I started using Linux Ubuntu since 7 years now, but as for Command Line commands, I first studied a beginners PDF book LinuxFun.pdf .
In 2018 I started a Linux online course at edx.org .
But I did not finish it on time (due date was passed for the final exam)
A year later, you could do the course for free, but without all the knowledge-checks nor the final exam : if you wanted these too, you had to pay 150 $ !
Last year I found some other, completely free courses at Networking Academy : NDG Linux Unhatched and NDG Linux Essentials .
The first one I finished, now I am still busy with the second one .
I guess this profile description is long enough already, so greetings from Belgium .
