I am a retired computer systems professional. I got my start at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada) learning FORTRAN IV, PL/I, Algol-W, etc. (yes, 80-column cards!) on IBM System 360/370, with MTS (Michigan Terminals System) operating system, which was used by many universities world-wide. After graduation, I began my career in software development on IBM Systems 3, 32, 34, 36, 38, AS/400. Ended up as a Systems Analyst at a local municipal government, supporting & customizing various MS SQL Server databases.
Now I am embarking on a new path to replace Windows with Linux (probably LMDE), before the support for the former ends next year. I’ve been learning a lot from the contributors to this site, and will likely post my first question before the end of 2024.
