Why does the forum frequently tell me I have an unread topic when there isn’t one?
@berninghausen
Ask for both of us!!! Have yet to find that unread topic!!!
Yes, looking at the the moment, I have Unread(3) but nothing is highlighted.
I suspect parts of the display are updated more frequently than others.?
I checked… scrolling right down shows there are ancient unread topics… at least for me
You are inside a topic. It says 1 unread topic. Got to the main menu that lists all topics… there should be one unread?
Normally they are black, unread and grey ones you have read.
Does it change if you refresh your browser screen
Also if you use chrome instead of firefox etc
I just read through the new comments and, sure enough, there was a phantom unread comment! By repainting the screen, I made the notice go away.
Haven’t notice Abishek dropping in to give us his wisdom on this quirk.
I observe that when using my tablet… Samsung Internet browser. I always put it down to a browser problem?
It seems to make multiple copies of the itsFOSS forum page within one tab, and it doesnt keep all copies up to date. I backspace over the spurious copies to get rid of it.
The last remaining copy is always correct.
Not seen him either, bet he is watching the replies…
I dont have any more power over the site than you do, just experiences with clients saying the same thing after I update their sites.
My samsung browser automatically refreshes with me doing nothing, but its rare i have more than 2 tabs open
Normally, you can find the New and Unread topics on the homepage itself.
Any topic that you visited and has a new reply, will be counted as unread. A topic that has not been opened by you should be counted as New. That’s what my understanding of how things work in Discourse.
As you can see, I often look at all new posts. I may not always be able to follow them afterwards, unless I am tagged in the conversation.
