After upgrding to Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS from Ubuntu 18.04 LTS internet connection is totally lost in HP laptop

Hello,

I have just upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS from Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, after getting upgrade suggestions from software updater. In Ubuntu 18.04, internet was working properly both in Wifi and Ethernet, but now in Ubuntu 20.04 I have no internet connection.

I have searched online for solution and checked the following things:

dpkg -l *netplan
cat /etc/network/interfaces
cat /etc/netplan/*yaml
sudo lshw -C network

Please find the screenshots in the following links:

I don’t know what to do. I am really stuck. Can anyone please help me in this regard?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Thanks for your reply. But I could not find anything which can particularly solve my problem as I can not use internet in this laptop. I can download the required package in another laptop if required, but then I do not have the sufficient knowledge for that since I am new to Ubuntu. I have tried to search for the Ubuntu packages, but don’t know what to do and how to do it.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please help me if possible.

Best regards,
Prottoy

Welcome to “It’s Foss” @prottoy. I am hopeful that someone on this forum will be able to help to resolve your problem with Ubuntu 20.04. I’m sorry, but I have not d/l and installed driver my self.
Just a FYI, but Ubuntu 18.04 is a LTS release and will be supported until April 2023. So, you have over 2 years of support yet on 18.04. If you really get stuck, maybe you should restore your 18.04 system. At least you will have a working PC and then you could learn about drivers w/o being under the gun.

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:
