has anyone seen any more news about ubuntu unity since Regarding Ubuntu Unity and a call for help - Ubuntu Unity - Ubuntu Community Hub, since the main dev is in collage and 26.04 LTS isn’t happening.
Ubuntu Unity 25.04 released. Dated April of 2025.
While they are at it, could they reactivate Upstart?

I read Ubuntu switched to systemd back in 2015.
It says that upstart failed because of a poor licence and prejuduce against Ubuntu.
It was apparently technically OK.
So it is a candidate for a resurrection.
I listen to a podcast called Linux Unplugged. They started in August of 2013. I started listening several months ago from the beginning. We’re up to September 2016 at this point. It’s pretty neat to listen to all the “developments” they talk about in real time while for me it is reliving history.
Yes, the license was part of it and maybe some Ubuntu bias too. Maybe Ubuntu took one for the team and decided to go with the flow. Debian was one of the last to get onboard with systemd. It was a pretty huge deal at the time and yet came and went pretty quickly. Some camps still have pretty stiff feelings about systemd to this day.
There was a story recently about how systemd added a field that could be used for age verification. Immediately, someone forked it and removed that. Maybe it was 100% about age verification and privacy. Maybe some of it was latent systemd venting.
