I’d love to share my thoughts on this conference:

If you have a story, a lesson learned, or a technical deep dive to share, now’s your chance!

I’ll be there, and I’d be thrilled to see more familiar faces from the open source and fintech world on stage. I’m hoping to have some great one-on-one or group chats about the topic!

Need more reasons?

Speakers attend the conference for free!

Regards,

Adam

Can I get an opinion. Do we allow this post? It is advertising but not self promotion in my opinion.

Doesn’t even explain what the acronym ASF stands for… I guess I could google it if I could be arsed, but I can’t…

If you’re trying to promote something don’t just assume ALL your potential audience will be intimate with all the jargon and acronyms…

For all we know it could mean Adam Saghy Foundation?
I vote we delete it

Looks like this is a genuine call, updating this topic with better references.

Edit: Added more info at the bottom of the post.

If anyone is interested .?. Ok for. Me

Because there was something similar before which we let pass.

But we dont want loads of comments or promotion of product xxx against category yyy

Most of us in the rest of the world don’t give a fig about what people in Glasgow are doing. Delete it.

Someone did let the following conférence through before

Ok it was some time ago, and it was our leader ……

I care about glasgow even if no one else does. Cannot understand the language and google dont offer a translation yet.

Same here - and it’s debatable whether I, or @nevj are the furthest away from Glasgow, than everyone else on this forum

OK - so the “A” is for “Apache” - I don’t mind… I’m sorta interested in Apache - I sometimes have to support it… and much prefer it if it’s been setup properly /etc/apache/sites.conf.d/ and /etc/apaches/sites.enabled.d/ … On the other hand I kinda hate Tomcat - yuck… Bane of my working life at times…

I also think the naming was rather clever - what do we call our httpd server? It’s very “patchy” lots of patches and bug fixes, lets call it “a patchy httpd”…

OK, I will go with you… will leave if be.
Thanks.

I guess I am the Audience of One in the forum but I’m actually from Glasgow, so this was of interest to me! Not sure whether I’d attempt to present or just have a mosey at all the other content.

I’ve been researching/drafting a bit for my own blog about how tech legislative trends across the UK and EU tend to target corporate actors with legal departments. So later carve-outs for FOSS maintainers or hobbyist are mostly just afterthoughts added under pressure during consultation, when ideally for us they’d be foundational to the design…

I’ll refrain from going full weegie in future replies

Glasgow was the spiritual centre of my scientific discipline… quantitative genetics.

I admit I don’t know much about this at all! Off to investigate…

In 1990, as Europe’s Capital of Culture, Glasgow caught the world’s attention and showed how powerful the arts can be for social and economic development. In 2014, Glasgow reached another historic landmark in its presentation of the 2014 Commonwealth Games and its accompanying cultural programme.

Most think of Scotland in the form of edinburgh but glasgow is worth a visit !

I got that wrong… it was Edinburgh not Glasgow that was a centre for genetics. my geography was never good… I did not travel.
I had several colleagues who did their PhD there.
