So you cant find a distro on DistroWatch’s list of some 500 distros that you like. No problem. You can now (it seems) build your very own custom distro and all it take is a few clicks and a description of what you want included in your distro. The distro will be put together in an ISO file you can download. The site is still in alpha mode tho.
The site also has over a 1000 (?) distro you can try on-line. Talk about having a choice!

It is a bit like what you can do with Gentoo, only it takes a broader sweep and allows you to start your build from any of 1000+ distros.
I think I will wait for at least alpha release before trying it.

I remember Oracle also had that with OEL6 - if you were running it on Oracle VM for x86 (not to be confused with Oracle VirtualBox) - Oracle VM for x86 was XEN hypervisor based - VirtualBox implements its own hypervisor… You could bulid your own template for Oracle Enterprise Linux 6 (this was before 7)… it was quite neat actually…
You’d open the template in the OVM for x86 and tell it how you wanted your headless server configured… It was actually better than Vmware or AWS… Yeah - I love to hate on Oracle, but they did have some cool shit, and OVM was pretty cool - you also use the VM management to manage Solaris VMs (LDM) - don’t confuse this product with VirtualBox - they share nothing other than an owner…

That is a one distro customise. I think this thing is like Bedrock … mix and match bits from everywhere. I may be wrong … the article is all hype and no info.

There is smolBSD.
Most BSD’s are close to scratch anyway if you use ports. Only the kernel and utilities are binary.
