I have-you could say-a nagging issue with Firefox web browser. When Win7 was the default OS,Internet Explorer was the default browser.I didn’t see much of a problem back then but now, with Firefox as the default browser for any linux distro, i came to realize that a lot of files that i saved over the years come in a format that ‘the fox’ can’t read.
Recently i google for any plug-in,add-on or extension that would allow firefox to read those same files.I’ve red in some sites an extension called UnMHT but i’m having a hard time finding it.
What i would like to know is, has someone installed this extension and if it did, where can i find it.Or, as an alternative, should this extension not available for any particular reason, to install a new browser. If so, which one?
Thank you.
Not tried it as i dont have any files in that format to test
Suggestion is yes it works.
It looks like Chrome based browsers can open .mht files
Also, there is a ripper app which will extract the information from a .mht file
https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?p=51269#p51269
Have not tried it
And
There are online services that will convert mhtml to html
Last ditch method… you can open a .mht file in a text editor and hack out the info you want.
Following Paul suggestion, i went to website ‘addons.thunderbird.net’, download the extension but the thing is, it didn’t worked.Mint doesn’t allow the installation to carry on because the file"appears corrupted".
Neville posted that Chrome-based browsers can open .mht files.I’m going with that, i’m not seeing much of an inconvenience to have one more browser so, i would just that.Thanks.
I looked up UnMHT firefox extension
It says
Discontinued
Not supported since Firefox 57 (Quantum).
So Mint was right to reject it.
Thanks for the extra info I had not seen it had been discontinued thought it was still active but did not have a file to test it on
It’s a pity but in the end it doesn’t matter. I’ve searched for a chromium-based browser as a back-up browser and did the trick. It red my .mht files. So thanks for the advice.
I think you are better off without addons. There are security issues with addons and extensions.
