Sorry buy your android device is too old. Had that before on older tablets. Only answers if its not possible to upgrade the system which in many cases is not available (built in obsolescence)
Use another browser I had better luck with opera mini
Buy a new tablet
I agree, there are things it can be used for.
I have an old out of date ipad, battery is virtually dead but can still be used for unimportant things if connected to power.
Mobile devices such as tablets and phones have a time limit of usefulness.
Being forced to upgrade a perfectly working device is par for the course these days.
Best of luck choosing a new tablet that suits in the minefield of them available.
Am looking at Samsung A9+
My wife has one and it seems more than adequate.
If these things become obsolete, then overexpensive choices are sheer waste.
I replaced wifes old tablet last year… battery failed, but it still runs on power. Will have a collection of these old toys soon. I wonder could I install linux on them?
I had my old Nokia/HMD (it’s just the Nokia brand name - zero to do with the famous Finnish company) phone by my front door with the TP-Link “Tapo” app running with my front door camera on 24x7… The battery “blew up” - i.e. swelled up and warped the whole chassis…
I’d really like to use my old 3rd gen iPad - but IOS 9 is too old for the TP-Link IOS app…
I’ve got a Samsung Note Pro 12" tablet somewhere - but I LOATHE Samsung tablets… it’s stuck on Android 4… My iPad pro 12.9" from 2017/18 was still getting IOS (iPadOS) updates till quite recently…
BTW - I NEVER use Discourse or IT’sFOSS from Android or iPadOS - almost 100% of the time I use it via a computer running Linux in Brave browser…
It is OK for reading and simple responses, but there are limitations . A PC is better.
I sometimes have to drop the tablet and go to the PC to answer something properly.
