Green moray eel near Cancun, Mexico

Back story about the pic and believe it or not the diver is me. Back in the 90’s I used to scuba dive. In Cancun, I went on a dive to where the Dive Master said was a feeding station. Meaning divers would feed the wild life there and most likely we would see Nurse sharks and moray eel.

Dive Master warn us to be careful of our fingers if we try to feed any animals. Well, this big moray eel swam directly to me. I did not have any food and place my arms to my side. The eel came very close to me and made a U turn. At that point I placed one arm under him and my hand on top of him. Just so happen a photographer was with the dive and snap this pic.

My experience with eels is little things like snakes getting caught on fishing lines.

Purple Swamp Hen.

They build nests on floating sticks on ponds and dams. They forage on grass during day but retire to water for safety at night. They are common in Eastern Australia.

Also reasonably common in South Western Australia

I often see them in or near wetlands in Perth…

Believe it or not, it is the symbol for the Ria Formosa Natural Park here in the South of Portugal, i.e. in the antipodes.

Yes, Portugal is very close to the antipodal point of where I live.

" The antipodal point of Nowra, Australia is located in the North Atlantic Ocean near the Azores.
