Shouldn't there be less Linux Distros and derivatives

So AntergOS shuts down May 21, 2019. Prior to that Scientific Linux pulled the plug. And even Linux Mint appears to be in turmoil. So my question is, should not there be only few 4 - 5 Linux Distros ; like Debian, RHEL(Fedora/Cent OS included), OpenSuse, Ubuntu ) and some 1 or 2 derivatives so that there will be enough developers and financial resources for them ? And so that none of them have to pull the plug on themselves.

Any experience with LXLE?

I installed LXLE on a very old computer for someone else, once. This happened a couple of years ago. I tested it a bit and it seemed alright. I didn’t really have any complaints, though I only tested it shortly and the only issue I found was that the weather indicator wasn’t working as it should.
