I learned the lesson the hard way. I actually did loose data that time, something 15 or more years ago. It was a 750GB Samsung HDD, which was just perfect, and a second later just clicked, and nothing more.
Since then I have all the data on at least 2 different physical drives.
I trust only my own storage and don’t trust the cloud either.
