We have not explored electricity generation properly.
There are successful demonstrations of producing electricity from bacteria and from fungi.
There are probably many other biological sources of electricity … we are simply too narrow minded to look.
Tnere is even a device that generates electricity from thin air
My Galaxy A15 charged to 100%, but I found a Battery Protection setting (probably from a MakeUseOf article) that let me set it to 80%.
I never want a sofa that needs a battery! LOL
We went shopping last week thinking of replacing our lounge chairs. We dont have room for a sofa, but the chairs We may end up with are reclining with a remote control bit like a hospital bed more buttons than my tv. All electric. I did ask if it made coffee and toast but the salesman did not understand the joke.

New advanced battery technology will help with that a lot. Peak generation excess power can be stored to use overnight and in bad weather. I don’t know the details, but NY state is bringing such systems online now along with high efficiency power transmission lines.
Here’s one that supposedly actually works (in prototype) that doesn’t even need air!
Hâte to admit it, but it was a chair designed for older people or handicapped to aid movement in getting up or down. Perhaps I am too young for it thats why I did not understand the controls

My mom had a recliner / lift chair that was electric. It had a 9 volt battery also in case the power when out while she was still in the chair. The battery would at least be enough power to get her out of the chair.
Perhaps the best solution given our current technological capabilities would be distributed generation where each structure is responsible to generate the power needed, perhaps with a centralized battery farm to store our excess production for times when production drops off due to weather conditions. Perhaps rooftop solar panels combined with compact rooftop windmills could be a starting point?

That is what Australia is trying to do.
It is not working. You need a complete redesign of the power grid . That is expensive. Our power prices have risen dramatically.
It is a big ask to request homeowners to pay for solar panels … there is a very poor return to capital on that, and it does not work for renters.
And it won’t, at least until there’s no better alternative. What I’m thinking is that current power companies or local governments be required to provide the equipment to enterprise and residential users while using their existing infrastructure to provide for battery based load balancing/over-production storage where, for example, my home is producing more wattage than I’m using, so the excess goes to the regional storage facility, and when my home’s no longer producing enough energy to supply my needs, I get what I’m not producing from regional storage. In turn, if local storage drops too low or begins to exceed its storage capacity, its excess or shortfall gets distributed across the grid to other regional facilities. Further, if we make all production equipment smart, perhaps with task-oriented AI, each region could limit/increase production by advancing/retracting solar shades over the solar panels when the region approaches/falls from capacity.
TBH, I’m conjecturing off the top of my head, and I understand how expensive such an undertaking would be, but in the long run, everyone would come out ahead, don’t you think?

Yes. Distributed battery storage makes sense, because it removes long distance grid loads.
Dont know about commercial demands … how do you run an aluminium smelter or a steelworks or an AI centre?
What happens to skyscraper units that dont produce any power but consume heaps?

Australia currently has home batteries and massive state operated storage batteries … nothing in between. We also store power by pumping water uphill.
