This topic has really gone wild… FYI antonym is a word that means the opposite, in the same way that synonym is a word that means the same. What you meant was homonymous.

I believe there’s also Occitan - from the South… I think it’s also called “Langue D’oc”… But there are also two other non-Romance (i.e. non-Latin) languages indigenous to France : Basque (also in Spain), and Breton… and of course with the significant minority of Algerians, there’s Arabic now as well… and I believe there’s a minority of Catalan (Romance too, but also in Spain) in the French part of the Pyrenees…

Correct, just got back from a visit to Toulouse and all the street signs are first in french but also in occitan, similar in perpignan french first but also in catalan. The catalan language continues to be taught and used in schools right down past Barcelone and in some schools instead of french today.
