Australia does not have moorland.
We have heath. Is it anything like heath?
Correction… there is Buttongrass moorland in Tasmania.

My introduction to Yorkshire was courtesy of The Goodies :

and also - Ripping Yarns “The Testing of Eric Oldthwaite”.

And then I married one  - sometimes I, and my daughters have to remind my missus that “buried” is pronounced “berried” and not “burried” (to be fair - the latter pronunciation makes a bit more sense).

On the subject of “moorland” were there any bog people found in Yorkshire - like in Ireland and Denmark?

Thanks for the images, no translation needed for me.

No bogs in yorkshire are even now called toilets !

When the people from yorkshire inveneted the world, there was no civilisation before us!

We used to sing that at school assembly. I had no idea what it meant, and still dont.

Home of the Brontë sisters.
Jane Eyre is my favourite.

The song is the story of mary jane who goes looking for love on the hills around ilkley a yorkshire town, but she fails to wear protective clothes (hat). Sadly she dies of cold, they put her in the ground, where she is eat by worms, the worms are then eaten by ducks, we then eat the ducks… so in effect have eaten her.!

Simple story.

Several times i have converted it to images and french language to work on translation and culture. Fun song and very serious.

But only to be expected of the origines of the world.
