What I really like about Soplos is that once installed and you open the app menu, you’re not bogged down with a million apps you’ll never use.
Aside from their theme customization and their several Soplos “Exclusive” Applications, it’s a pretty minimal install. And I like that.

I would like to see Soplos make a non-systemd version , like antiX. That would make it even more minimal. All they would have to do is use Devuan testing, instead of Debian… like Peppermint does.

KDE Plasma. Always KDE Plasma for me.

That would be a good idea as an option. But I’ve never had a problem with SystemD. I know there are a lot of purists who hate SystemD, I’m just not one of them. As long as they keep a SystemD version available, I’m all for an OpenRC or Init version of Soplos.
It is not a problem, it is simply bad programming.
Systemd is nearly 1.5 million lines of code.
Dinit is about 10000 lines of code.
They both do the same tasks … dinit has every command that systemd has.
Which is the better option?
Other options like OpenRC and sysvinit and s6 are small like dinit.
We dont want to go back to sysvinit, we want to go forward to a modern init system . Currently that means s6 or dinit.
Systemd has security issues
One of the main reasons I left Windows for Linux more than 20 years ago… CHOICE. There’s something for everyone.
Soplos uses the Calamares installer.
Some users have reported problems with Calamares… please report any issues. … I am trying to keep a tab on installer problems.
I’ve never had issues with Calamares on any distro that I can recall. Having said that, installing Soplos on a ThinkPad T14 and an old Dell laptop had no issues.
I Agree with Uncle Spellbinder i hade no issues to install Soplos Linux and as he says its very snappy and i do like the welcome screen with all the things needed to get started.
A choice of what? Systemd, OpenRC, Sysvinit, or Dinit!! Linux in a VirtualBox VM is really all I need or want!!
Choice of several hundred distros, maybe 20 DE’s or WM’s, maybe 10 really comprehensive repos, several alternatives for just about every app niche.
Choice is not the only feature of Linux. Package management is really best evolved on Linux. Separation of the window system from the OS is a Unix feature, inherited by both bsd and linux. Being open to user contributions and scrutiny is best seen in Linux.
And I need all of this just to do what Windows is doing, is getting next to impossible to find a Linux for my old PC’s and hardware, so they get retired!!

Really. What is it that is not supported? I know old nvidia cards are one issue. AntiX or Void or TinyCore should run on anything back to a 486. It all else fails, use Netbsd.
