To be honest, there is nothing here, that cannot be made to work with plain old Debian stable!! I think the important ? is where will Soplos Linux be in the future!! No way I would install this to bare metal!! It does run well in my Vbox VM!!
I can see you have not tried to get Linux to run on 32bit hardware, or even some old 64bit hardware and even if you did succeed, you would still wind up with just a boat anchor!!
Did you try to add yourself to the netdev group?

Being âadminâ most probably means you are in the sudoers. So whenever you need to do something system-wide, you can use sudo and issue the command with elveated rights.
Without sudo you are just a regular user.
Connecting to VPN means configuring network.
That thing requires rights to do that, members of nedtev group have that right.
Thatâs why Iâm 95% sure, you need to be in the netdev group to be able to initiate VPN connection. (At least thatâs the case on my Debian systemsâŚ)
ok. so its a Debian thing then ? i have tried at least 10 different distros but never needed to use root to get my vpn to work

For printing you need to be in lp group, for managing a printer lpadmin membership is necessary.
This is something similar I guess, my wife needs SSTP VPN to her employers network to do the home office tasks. She needs to be in netdev too, thatâs why I thought this could be your issue as well.

I ran Freebsd for years on a 486.
I had a Pentium laptop that ran Debian dual booted with XP, then I ditched it all and ran Void in it ⌠it was 32 bit , single processor. I even attempted Gentoo compile in that Pentium ⌠I got as far as the CLI ⌠but no X11. ⌠it died making electrical noises and a burning smell.
I have just tried soplos linux gnome boro and before that i had tried the xfce variant tyron and liked them . However i have not seen anything i canât do on my good old debian stable system, still it was nice to see that they used btrfs its always cool to see a debian based os using my favourite file system !! All and a all it seemed like a promising distro !
Hi Daniel here is SparkyLinux it supports 32 bit processors maybe it can work in your older pc. Regards Mikael

Ok well i just read about it and remembered that Daniel had an 32 bit pc so he maybe wanted to try it. Its good that some distros support older hardware.
Perhaps we need a list.
Sparky gas gone back and reinstituted 32 bit.
That says something about committment.
Seems to me there was a thread here where people added to the list of 32 bit distros.

Keep watching. Void Linux was over 100 a few years ago. Today it is No 20.
Movements on distrowatch tell us more than the position.
Is it worth anything, the numbers for some are so low. I only look at the top 10.
