Have you ever tried "Incus"?

Hello Friends

In the PeppermintOS official forum was mentioned the following:

I am not sure about VirtualBox. I mostly use Incus,
Its a bit more light weight than Vbox and incus uses QEMU and KVM for its virtual machines. Which is different from Vbox.

I am sharing this tool for your consideration and to share experiences in this thread

Best to all!

Incus is new to me.
From reading, it seems to be a Manager for VM’s and Containers.
I am unsure if it provides the actual container or VM apps, or does it just manage things like Docker and Vbox?
It says it uses images … that is container terminology and implies they have a database of images somewhere … like dockerhub?
What if I want to import something like an iso and build my own container or VM?

We need to first grasp what Incus is?
The word ‘incus’ means an anvil shaped bone in your ear?
An anvil is a tool used to shape metal?
The latin word ‘incus’ means ‘anvil’.

It seems Incus is a fork of LXD, which was developed by Canonical, and which in turn is built on top of LXC. LXC was originally developed by IBM , and others.
They are all exclusively Linux software … they run in a Linux host and the containers and vm’s are for Linux code. Incus and LXD have a client server model, and the client can run on Win or Mac, but the server running containers has to be Linux.

I have never tried Incus. In fact, this is the first I have heard of it. But I know I will now be trying it out! I will let you know how it works.
