Viewing Youtube videos has been a pain in the but over the last while.
Sometimes they come in right away, sometimes page needs to be refreshed, sometimes don’t even come through. No matter what browser (Firefox, Brave, Vivaldi…).
So, gave Freetube app a shot .
App hasn’t been updated in quite a while but it works!
The minute a Ytube link is copy/pasted into it, it comes through right away!
Thought i’d post in case others have similar issue.
Are you a paid member of YouTube or just using the free version ?
I am on the free version and it’s usually the publicity that drives me crazy also depends where I am and using to connect. Currently in Spain and the apartment is ok for everything else except YouTube
Using mostly Brave as of late on KDE Neon with Ghostery along with default protection offered by the browser. No pop-ups here (when videos finally kick in).
Brave for me had a lot of stuttering issues whilst playing video in YouTube. I since moved back to Firefox and use Brave Origin to upload to YouTube. YouTube has been taken over fully by AI Bots, that have no clue whatsoever about fairness when using copyright stuff, it warns creators about there might be no income, because of copyright content detected, yet the creator has used it in fairness. Lot of Music channels get stung for playing music, loads of copyright complaints and strikes on channels that use copyright music, but using content in a fair way, either tutorials on how to play a song, or free advertising a song or band, yet the copyright companies still come down hard.
I think some of these ad blockers stop the Youtube ad playing but make you wait for an equivalent amount of time. So they dont stop the transmission of the ad, only its display.
There was an issue (AFAIK not yet fixed for the same reason you mention - the app seems to have been abandoned) which means that you cannot view comments in a YT video when using FreeTube. It was reported as a bug but was then closed with no fix in sight.
I deleted my instance (Debian 12) once I discovered that it wasn’t being supported any more so can’t now check but can you actually add a comment to a video?
