- the repo is active … regular changes
- they cared enough about open source to move from Github to Codeberg
I may have to consider moving to Codeberg myself … dont like Microsoft managing my stuff.

The Microsoft acquisition of GitHub completed 10/25/2018. Lots of people immediately fled GitHub then. Is there a new reason?

I dont think so. I guess Gitlab and Codeberg took a while to get going and establish user confidence.

Octave is another option for .CSV files. It is a open source version of Matlab.

I would like to think of myself as reasonably computer savy…but I have just wasted an hour trying to fill in a very simple pdf file to join a group.
It only wanted my name, first name, email address, phone number and some details on where we live such as apartment number and our number of voting rights within our co propriété
Should be simple
So started the search for our voting rights number, it pointed .e to the co owners web site to look it up, but of course there were 3 places it is registered and the 3 numbers were different one said 50, next page 11,000 next page 17,300 anyway chose biggest number.
But then the form. Dont have adobe writer, reader wanted money to make the change, so loaded up wps as on my tablet. That wanted money to make the change, but only told me after I had filled in all the boxes.
Tried using a web site to convert it into wps format, they wanted money to do it.
In the end have recreated to form in wps office writer as libreoffice is not available on my tablet.
Then filled in the blancs, printed it to pdf and dispatcher it one hour for 6 boxes. Next time I will just email the details and the request can do the work
As it is sent to around 600 members most are not very good in computing guess its going to be an issue.
In our village every owner gets different voting rights its a complex french system set in place 50 years ago by the British who built the complex, think it was just to confuse the french owners. Not one man one vote.

I am wasting my time compiling Gentoo on an old eMachine i686 Pentium4 Prescott 32bit CPU!! No binary packages for this machine!!

AI. Yes, it can give some useful information. I used it today and found out I had 2 versions of Flatpak installed, 23.08 and 24.08. But it also gave me way too much info and what could have been done in about 15 minutes took about 1.5 hours or more to remove Flatpak 23.08.
Maybe it was just a learning process on my part, but I still felt the AI wasted a lot my time.

I used AI again today looking for an app that would record songs from a radio station. Then show a comparison between the different apps.
I selected one of the apps, but it failed to install. AI came back and said the app did not exits!
wait, you may up the name, may up the comparison, may up the
functions on a app that does not exits.

yes — that’s exactly what happened. I made up the name, made up the
comparison, and made up the functions of an app that does not exist
anywhere.
This is why you have to be careful with the answers AI gives you and why the answer may need to be verified. So more time wasted.

I get that same thing a lot. I ask what to do, AI says do this, when I do I get an error. When I report that back to AI it says, “That’s because of a, b, or c”.
Pretty frustrating at times.

You have to persist. I spent 2 weeks following “That’s because …” answers . The AI engine guesses when it does not know, them admits its mistake and makes another guess. It is learning too, from you.
I/we did eventually get to a correct solution … after about 20 rounds of exchanges, including it asking me to run test jobs and report back.
It turned out I was debugging a development version of lumina DE and AI only had access to the last release version. The code it was working from was substantially different from my code. It worked out that we differed and relied on me for snippers of code info. It was tedious.

Once again I’m wasting my time with this forum. I want to add a backlink from my profile to some of my profiles on other sites. For this I add a link into my profile’s about box.
